We had no internet access at home for most of last week, but I have now uploaded all the pictures off of my camera onto flickr. Here are the highlights:
My ring:
The knitting project I'm working on (it will be a wrap when it is finished):
Here's some video I took at the Obama Rally on May 20th in downtown Des Moines. There were several thousand people there, and we arrived too late to get in a good position to see the stage. As it got darker, it was really hard for me to get a good shot of anything, but I did use the video camera feature on my Kodak to catch this video of Michelle Obama and daughter walking across the stage:
I had to hoist my camera over my head and aim blindly to get that footage, and I guess I got lucky. I never did get to see Obama, however, but I heard the speech. Some of it can be found on my flickr page, with additional photos of the event.
For anyone hearing about the tornadoes, storms, and floods out here, we are fine. There has been some flooding in the area, but the worst of it is not in our neck of the woods. I heard this morning that they are sandbagging in the Iowa City area like crazy, as there's a good chance the town could be flooded. The levels of the river out there are similar to those from 1993, which is known as "the big one" throughout most of the Midwest. I remember visiting St. Louis that year, right after the floods. We were walking out of a restaurant and noticed a street sign poking out of the water. That's when we realized that this restaurant was not beach-front property normally.
